Barred Owl Strix varia The Barred Owl is resident mostly east of the Missouri River, with populations in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and eastern Texas. Inhabits wooded areas, preferably with large trees. Food includes a wide variety of prey; small mammals and birds apparently make up the bulk of the diet. The call is familiar to many; it sounds a bit like "Who cooks for you; who cooks for you-all". |
