Nodding Wild Onion Allium cernuum Nodding Wild Onion is found in much of North America, though Ladd states that it is particularly common in prairie remnants around the southern end of Lake Michigan. The bell-shaped flowers are arranged in a cluster that bends earthward. Nodding Wild Onions were once used as food by some Native Americans. Member of the Lily Family. I photographed this individual in late July at Chiwaukee Prairie in southeastern Wisconsin. |
